The Weak and the Wicked is a blistering account of prison life, specifically at a women's penitentiary. After she's framed for fraud, Joan Raymond is incarcerated. Inside, she forms bonds with fellow cellmates: Hard-boiled Betty and Nellie. Each women tells her story, revealed in flashback about their lives outside prison and the circumstances that landed them in the slammer. This film is both a sensitive expose of the rehabilitation system in England and a neat little exploitation film.
